Dr. Kelly Flax

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am very excited to meet and continue the educational experience with you and your student. My name is Kelly Flax and I am the building principal for Moreland Ridge Middle School. I am a graduate of Fort Hays State University and received my doctorate from the University of Missouri—Kansas City. I have had the opportunity to serve the Blue Springs School District for over 20 years. I have been a school administrator for the last 20 years serving at Brittany Hill Middle School, James Lewis Elementary, Thomas Ultican Elementary and James Walker Elementary. Prior to that, I taught Math at Paola High School. I am excited to be with you here at Moreland Ridge and I’m looking forward to a great school year.

I am the proud father to my two children Jordan (BSHS Grad) and Jenna (Sophomore at Blue Springs High School). My wife, Deana, is an elementary school teacher at Sunny Pointe Elementary. In our spare time, we enjoy being at the softball field watching our daughter play and traveling in our camper.

My number one job at Moreland Ridge Middle School is always to keep students and staff safe and secure. I believe that it is my job to ensure that the learning environment for our students is conducive for learning at the highest level of achievement. I believe that parents, students, and school staff are a powerful team that benefits the achievement and growth for all of our students. Educating the students here at Moreland Ridge takes a team with everyone working to produce high-achieving lifelong learners. Here at Moreland Ridge Middle School we will strive to ensure that your student achieves the highest level of academic success.

Be Kind, Do Right, Choose Great! It’s the Husky Way!

Yours in Education,
Kelly Flax
Moreland Ridge Middle School Principal
